Oh how my heart breaks writing this. I don’t think there will ever be enough space for me to write what you truly meant to me Mortie.
He meant so much to so many people through the years and touched so many lives along the way. All of his old patients still come into my office and ask me about him. He was the most selfless person I have ever met. Always putting everyone’s needs before his own. He was there for me so many times through the years. Always the voice of reason, like my second dad. My daily visits to him in the hospital and rehab these past few months were not just me keeping him company, but me needing his company just as much. Whether it was just sitting there with him watching the yankee game until visiting hours were over, talking about old times, the drama in my family, or me running up to the hospital on my lunch to bring the Post, tootsie rolls and donuts. I only wish I had just a few more of those visits.
You put up a really tough and long fight my friend. May you now Rest In Peace. I will carry you in my heart always...

It’s with great sadness that we lost a true pioneer and also my friend and mentor Mort Levy. He was a kind man that helped me when I first started out. His wisdom and knowledge led me to how I practice today. A true inspiration in perseverance. Mort, you taught me so much, hard to fathom that I just spoke to you last week on the phone. I will miss you, you were always there for me and I’lll miss our jokes and me always moving your pens around in your pocket protector. I’ll miss all the “oh boy” comments when something wasn’t right, you’ll always be regarded as a legend in our field and I’m proud to say you were my friend. Rest In Peace Mort, I miss you. - Zsolt

I met Mort in 2008. His friend George said, "this is the guy you need to go see". My first time meeting Mort will always be with me. After all, his is the man who used his vast knowledge of prosthetics, and his positive outlook to shape me who I am today. Because of Mort, (and the prosthetics he made me) I am the 1st female bka to squat 500. The 1st amputee to become a member and compete and win against abled bodied athletes in the North American Strongman (2012). Without a doubt, he was the key person who raised the bar for what amputees CAN do! I wish he knew, that because of him taking a chance with me so many others got back to living from seeing things that his knowledge has done for me thru social media and or being at the events and witnessing with their own eyes. Mort will be greatly missed and words can not express how blessed I was to know him.

Mort was SUCH a HUGE part of the medical community in Ocean and Monmouth counties. I remember 27 years ago when I first started; I would go around to hospitals and Dr's offices..trying to solicit business.. Only to be told ..sorry.. We use Mort Levy... so for YEARS.. I thought of him as this Titan..I figured he would be like 6-4.. Probably big muscles.. Probably drives a Porsche and has an entourage of people handling his every need and or whim. And when I finally met him.. I was taken back.. He was soft spoken.. DEF not 6-4 or full of muscles..but infinitely more humble than I could ever imagine. I competed with Mort but NVR saw him as a competitor. He was soft spoken and never egotistical; he would go WAY out of his way to help people and I will forever call him a friend. I am still of the belief that if the world had more good People like Mort.. We would smile and laugh more and most certainly be in a better place. Thanks for all you did Mort.. Even when you didn't know you were doing it.
