Obituary of Dr. David Eisenberg

Dr. David Eisenberg, 88, of Lakewood died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Bronx, NY, he graduated from Kansas State College in 1947 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and was an instructor and researcher at Cornell University. After marrying the love of his life, Ruth, in 1950, he resided in Mexico and New York, finally settling in NJ where he opened Ocean County Veterinary Hospital in Toms River. David enjoyed politics, community service, and extensive travel. He was a past president of the NJ Veterinary Association, active in Habonim and the Ocean County Mental Health Association, volunteer at Strand Theatre, and ran unsuccessfully for the Lakewood Twp. Committee. David was a past member of Congregation Ahavat Shalom, Lakewood and a current member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Toms River. Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Ethel Eisenberg and his wife, Ruth; he is survived by son, Howard and his wife, Susan Sandler of Gladwyne, PA; son, Leonard and his wife, Carol of White Plains, NY; daughter, Marion Pardes and her husband, Steven of Lakewood, NJ; daughter, Sarita Eisenberg and her husband, Lou Hammerman of Montclair, NJ; sister, Sabina Appelbaum of Lakewood, NJ; grandchildren, Moish, Eva, Beth, and Shoshana; and step-grandchildren, Max and Sam. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Congregation B’nai Israel, Toms River, NJ. Interment followed at B’nai Israel Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
