Obituary of Murray Rudnick

Murray Rudnick, 81, of Lakewood, NJ passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 surrounded by the loving family he created. Born in Brooklyn on July 14, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Rose Rudnick. Murray was the light and the heart of his family. He will be remembered for his youthful, joyful spirit, brilliant smile, glistening eyes, and kind heart. He was loved by all that met him. His family called him Mr. Information because of his uncanny knowledge in any subject matter. He had two left feet but loved to dance. He loved the water and spending lazy days on his daughter and son-in-law’s boat. He was a history buff, an inventor, a dreamer, a designer and architect, conceptualizing and building rooms in his and his family’s home; including engineering two photography studios for his daughter, Jeri Houseworth, a professional photographer who he also managed business accounts and the books for. He was a veteran who served in the US Army followed by successful careers as an Engineer at Western Electric in Kearny which then became AT&T. Always an inventor, he worked on the development of the first Telstar. He was very active in his synagogue in Union, NJ where he served as President and Treasurer of the Men’s Club for many years as well as his current synagogue at Temple Beth Or in Brick, NJ. He had many, many friends across the globe who he camped, traveled, bowled and fished with who will miss him terribly as will his adoring family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis of Lakewood, NJ as well as his 4 daughters, Jeri Houseworth-Livingstone and husband, Robert Livingstone of Tinton Falls, NJ; Andrea and Gabe Tomae of Belmar, NJ; Holly and Joel Kurtzberg of New York, NY; and Stacey Valenti of Ocean, NJ; and his 8 grandchildren, Alexander, Ryan, Chelsea, Emily, Julia, Faith, Jamie, and Gabriel; as well as many extended family members who loved him dearly. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Temple Beth Or, Brick, NJ followed immediately by burial at B’nai Israel Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. Shiva will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 through Thursday, May 5, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Tinton Falls, NJ. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
