Renee Simons

Obituary of Renee F. Simons

On Saturday, May 21 st, 2022, Renee Fredericka Simons, loving wife, mother, and grandmother,
passed away at the age of 84.
Renee was born on January 19 th, 1936, in the Bronx, New York. She graduated from Pace
University and had a varied career, from working as a bank teller to serving as the personal
assistant for an Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker, to finally working at the Olin
Corporation with her husband, Larry. Renee and Larry were wed on December 12 th, 1959, and
had two children, Jeffrey and Stacey.
Renee leaves behind her husband, Larry, and her two children: Jeffrey and his spouse, Laurel
Cooper; Stacey and her partner, Ken Clark; and three grandchildren: Annaliese, Hayley, and
Hayden.
Renee was a multitalented creator. She loved to do needlepoint and paint, both for herself and
for family and friends. Most notably, however, she wrote multiple novels and was a member of
the Romance Writers of America (RWA). She passed on her creative spirit to her son Jeffrey and
daughter Stacey as well as her grandchild Annaliese.
Renee may not have written her own obituary, as some authors do, but we would like to leave
you with her own words, from the “About” on her Amazon Author’s Page:
“Renee Simons has played many different roles in her life: wife, working mother of two, amateur
auto mechanic to the family VW Bug, vet to a mixed-breed German Shephard named Billy (short
for Wilhelm), and Fiver, a mostly bearded collie rescue mutt named after the hero rabbit in
Watership Down; an unlicensed home decorator and often questionable cook (ask her
marketing director son and medical examiner daughter about her spaghetti pie - ugh.) She
enjoys painting, photography, swimming, music, and travel. She began her first romance novel
(forever unfinished) while in college. As a life-long writer who took those skills for granted, she
recalls her earliest ambition to be a painter but now concentrates on painting pictures with
words. “The best of both worlds,” she says. “Life is good.”
