Obituary of Mollie Shapiro

Mollie Shapiro, 91, of Brick, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Perth Amboy, she settled in Lakewood in 1951, later moving to Brick. Mollie was a secretary in the Lakewood school district for many years and retired in 1989. She served as President of the Lakewood Schools PTA multiple times. In addition, she was President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans at the local and county level, served as Lakewood Twp Committee member, worked for the Lakewood Election Board, was President of the Greenbriar Hadassah Chapter and honored as a Hadassah Lights recipient. Mollie was a long time member of Ahavat Shalom, Lakewood, now Ahavat Olam, Howell. She was also an avid Mah Jongg player and enjoyed travel. Predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Freida Beldengreen and her beloved husband, Sidney (1984); she is survived by daughter, Roberta Richmond and husband, Louis of Lakewood; daughter, Marilyn Breggar and husband, Michael of Cherry Hill; and grandchildren Seth, Stephanie and Scott. Mollie is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Friday, March 4, 2016 at Congregation Ahavat Olam, 106 Windeler Rd, Howell, NJ 07731. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. Donations in Mollie’s memory may be made to Hadassah Southern NJ, Greenbriar Chapter, 3301 Hwy. 66, Bldg. B, Suite 236, Neptune, NJ 07753. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
