Obituary of Wanda Lee Alexander

Wanda Lee Alexander, 80, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Wanda moved to FL, then to CT and later settled in NJ. Since the age of seven, Wanda was bound to a wheel chair due to polio; however, Wanda consistently found a way to experience life to its fullest. She acquired a handicapped equipped van that enabled her to drive and gain the freedom to pursue her education and hobbies which included horseback riding. She obtained a master’s degree and became a teacher to other individuals with special needs. She was a very spiritual woman and spent a lifetime studying religion on her quest to find the true meaning of life. This eventually led her to convert to Judaism while she attended college in San Diego, CA in the early 1980’s. While living in Miami Beach, FL, she became of a member of the local Jewish Orthodox Synagogue. She continued her membership and faith while she found her final residence in NJ. Wanda is survived by her Son, Ben Alexander; Daughter, Wanda Edean; Sisters, Carol, Jo Ann and Donna; Grandchildren, Joshua, Shayne, Amanda and Roger as well as her Great Grandchildren, Little Ben and Kiersten. Graveside funeral services will be held 10AM Tuesday, May 7, at Freehold Hebrew Benefit Society Cemetery, Freehold, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
