Dear Jay and Elissa
This is Yael, your second cousin from Israel.
I was so sorry to find out that Bob has passed away. He was a kind man, always caring for us, always offered to help in any way, always remembered my son's birthday. He was very dear to us all, to me, my mom and brothers.
My heart and thoughts are with you. We will keep his memory in our hearts.
Sincerely yours
Yael

I was discharged from the Pride of Judea Children's Home several years before Bob was admitted. But, thanks to the Pride's alumni activities, picnics and newsletter. we got to meet and became friends. I along with other alumni were particularly touched by the ongoing support that Bob provided to our much loved supervisor, Charlie Vladimer. Bob would attend to Charlie's transportation and other needs- in life and in death. Bob saw to it that 94 year old WWII veteran Charlie Vladimer- alone in this world- received a proper military funeral.
As a result of annual alumni picnics , emails and periodic visits to New Jersey Bob and I remained in touch. After awhile I decided that it was time to ask a question that had been on my mind for sometime- namely-"Did anyone say that he bore a striking resemblance to Eddie Cantor?. Without missing a beat Bob opened his eyes- real wide- just like "Banjo Eyes"!
Thank you Bob for that response, for your wonderful friendship and for being a real mensch!

To Bob's Family:
Bob and I met at the Pride of Judea Children's Home around 1949-1950 and quickly became good friends. He was like a big brother to me and helped me with my homework, among other things. When we both left the Pride Home, we went our separate ways until we resumed our friendship at a Pride Reunion in 1982.
Since then my husband, Phil, and I would see Bob and Sheila at Pride Reunions and keep in touch by phone or mail. During my long contact with Bob, I found him to be an unusual and compassionate person who not only took good care of his own family, but helped so many other people from the Pride to this day, including my sister, niece, and her son.
I know that Bob will be sorely missed by you, Phil and myself, and so many other people. We hope the wonderful memories that you have of Bob will help you through this difficult time.

I was fortunate to visit with Bob five or six times over the years, and after the first time, I always looked forward to it. He was such an upbeat man. We had delightful visits and I was honored to know him. Rest in Peace Mr. Geteles. My most sincere condolances to Elissa and her entire family. The world is a little less for having lost your dear father.
