Obituary of Jean Marcia Gold
Jean M. Gold, nee Parker, 86, of East Brunswick, NJ, died May 6 at her home. Born and raised in Boston, MA by immigrant parents, Albert and Annie Parker, Jean graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1953 and entered the field of social work. She and A. Melvin Gold married in 1955. Jean worked as a social worker, bookkeeper and in a yarn shop where she enjoyed teaching people how to knit. Her favorite job was at Israel Bonds where she felt she was really making a difference. She was a long-time member of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick.
Predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Jean is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Gold and his spouse Donna Mancuso and Stephen Gold and his spouse Cindy; Daughter, Vivian Gold and her spouse Eric Reinders; Sisters, Fran Davis and Ruth Parker; Sister-in-law, Lynn Faber nee Gold; Grandsons, Adam Gold and his spouse, Paige, Daniel Gold; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jean taught her children by her actions how to be a devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and to be open minded to all kinds of people and new ideas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 11:00 AM at Beth Am Shalom, 1235 State Hwy 70, Lakewood, NJ, followed by interment at Forest Green Park Cemetery, 535 Texas Rd. Morganville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, Jean requested that donations be made to East Brunswick Friends of the Library (https://www.ebpl.org/main/friends_library.cfm). Arrangements are under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel.
