Obituary of Lester George Penn
Lester Penn, 90, of Jackson, NJ, died Monday, March 19, 2018, at Monmouth Medical Southern Campus, Lakewood. Son of William and Fannie, Lester was born July 22, 1927, in Bayonne, NJ. After attending local schools, he enlisted and served in the US Navy during WWII. Lester graduated from Bayonne Junior College in 1947 and Seton Hall University in 1950 with a BS degree in business administration. After courting the love of his life, he married Miriam (Mitzi) Talbert on November 19, 1950. Lester worked for various CPA firms and businesses in Essex and Hudson counties. He was employed by the USAF in his primary position as an accounting and finance officer at Mcguire AFB. He retired on January 3, 1988. Living in Lakewood for 39 years, Lester and Miriam moved to Leisure Village West in Manchester, NJ in 1999. Lester was a member of The Jewish War Veterans, The Yiddish Club, tennis club, and was an avid bowler. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Miriam; and survived by his Sons, Larry and his wife Kandi, Marc and his wife Amy, Joel and his wife Norma; Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018, 1:00 PM, at Beth Israel Cemetery, US Highway 1 North, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, 1811 R Street NW, Washington, DC 20009.
