Obituary of Willy Blau
Willy Blau, 83, of Toms River died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. A Holocaust survivor, he was born in Antwerp, Belgium and resided in Scranton, PA, Brooklyn, NY, Newark, Roselle, and Westfield prior to settling in Toms River, NJ 20 years ago. Willy owned and operated multiple professional uniform retail shops in Linden, Elizabeth, and Patterson, NJ. He was a past member of Anshe Chesed, Linden, NJ; was an avid swimmer at YMHA, Union, NJ; and enjoyed painting and teaching art technique.
Predeceased by his parents, Herman and Rosa Blau; he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Solange; son, Michael and his wife, Rose of Hudson, NH; daughter, Deborah of Rockland, NY; daughter, Michele Plakcy and her husband, Larry of Jackson, NJ; sister, Frieda; and grandchildren, Lauren, Maya, Eliza, Adam, Cameron, Jeremy, and Elliott.
Funeral services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. Donations in Willy’s honor may be made to General Israel Orphans Home for Girls, 132 Nassau St., NY, NY 10038. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
