Marcia Jacobs

Obituary of Marcia Francine Jacobs

Marcia Jacobs passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on April 6, 2024; she was 77.

Her husband of over 53 years, Bob, was with her and caring for her until the end. Marcia was born on May 18, 1946, in Islip, New York, to Rabbi Sidney & Mrs. Florence Bogner. Her family eventually moved to Kearney, New Jersey, where she graduated from Kearney High School in 1964.

After school, she did secretarial and administrative work for various employers until finally retiring as the office manager for a Jersey Shore landscaping company. Marcia and Bob met on the Jersey shore in 1965 and eventually married in December 1970 after he returned from Vietnam.

Marcia enjoyed doing craftwork, especially knitting baby blankets for expectant mothers, along with her husband’s involvement in veterans affairs. She was a leader in the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary on the local, state and national level. She took great pride in working to help hospitalized veterans as well as the Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Israel, which is a leader in medical innovations worldwide. Her passion for thanking veterans included approaching anyone she saw in a U.S. military uniform and thanking them for their service, which often included a hug. She was recognized by the Chapel of the Four Chaplains for her work for the veterans community. Her other passion was collecting frogs from all over the world. Part of her collection was once displayed in the Ocean  County Library.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, son Matthew, daughter-in-law Roberta, grandson Jordan, two sisters, Susan and Minna, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024at Temple Beth Am Shalom in Lakewood, and interment will follow at Congregation B’nai Israel Memorial Park in Toms River.
