Obituary of Edwin J. Schuster

Edwin Schuster, 82, of Lakewood, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Born in New York City, he was a resident of Lakewood for 80 years. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1963. He met his wife, Sherry, there. Eddie was president of Schuster’s Poultry Farm, a business founded by his father, Norbert, that has been serving the area for 78 years. He founded E.J. Schuster’s Office Supplies in 1985. He remained active in both businesses until the time of his passing. He was a man of great faith and good will who truly loved helping others.

He was predeceased by his parents Norbert and Berta Schuster. He lost his wife, Sherry, of 57 years in 2022. They created a beautiful life together where they enjoyed travel, art, music and spending time with family and friends.  Eddie is survived by his children Natalie (Schuster) Cunningham and her husband Travis, Robert Schuster and his partner Ashley Aguirre, Brian Schuster and his wife Lori, and sister Ruth Schuster. He was a devoted grandfather to Emma “Deedle”, Avery, Lilah, and Katelyn, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am October 22, 2023 at Congregation Ahavat Olam, 106 Windeler Road, Howell, NJ.  Interment will follow at B’nai Israel Cemetery, Saddle Brook, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Eddie’s memory can be made to Schuster Animal Sanctuary, 1084 Brook Rd., Lakewood, NJ 08701 and Congregation Ahavat Olam.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
