**UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION: Funeral Services will be held 10:00am Monday, March 20, 2017** Robert B. Lunden, 76, of Manchester, died March 3, 2017 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. Born in the Bronx and grew up in Farmingdale, NY, he resided in Suffolk and Monmouth County before settling in Manchester, NJ. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Turkey and then Japan in the Vietnam War as Airman 1st Class Morse Interception Operator. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Adelphi University and his Master’s Degree in Management Engineering from Long Island University. He had been employed as an Engineer in Electronics specializing in Radar Technologies for REDCOM, Fort Monmouth, NJ. From a young age, Robert had always had an interest in shortwave radio and was a licensed amateur radio operator. He was a volunteer for the Suffolk County Auxiliary Police; a 25 year member of the Monmouth County Fire Police serving as Captain and Instructor; and a volunteer for Neptune City and Manchester Fire Depts. Predeceased by his father, Leon; he is survived by his mother, Leona; Margaret and their son, Charles; brother, Wayne; and sister, Ellen Angus. Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Donations in Robert’s honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
