Obituary of Dr. Martin "Marty" Glassman
Martin Glassman, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19th, leaving behind a legacy
of service, leadership, and dedication to both his profession and his community.
He was born in Montclair, NJ in 1936 and raised in Belleville, NJ.
A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental
Medicine, Dr. Glassman proudly served his country in the United States Navy for two years
aboard the submarine tender USS Orion. Following his military service, he opened Jackson’s
first dental office, where he served the community for 43 years. He was the Chief of the Dental
Department at Kimball Medical Center (now Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus) and
was an active member of the Monmouth-Ocean Dental Society, including serving on its board
for many years.
Dr. Glassman was deeply committed to his community and gave generously of his time and
leadership. He served as Past President of the Monmouth-Ocean Alumni Chapter of Alpha
Omega Dental Fraternity and was a Past President of Temple Beth Am Shalom in Lakewood, NJ.
In addition, he served for six years on the board of Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity and
volunteered his time on construction projects, reflecting his hands-on commitment to helping
others and his local reputation as a first-class handyman.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Harriet, sons David and Steven Glassman, and his grandsons,
Jack Glassman and Alex Glassman, and was predeceased by his grandson, Nicholas Glassman.
Dr. Glassman will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to
family, profession, and community.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 24th at 11am at Beth Am Shalom, 1235 Hwy. 70,
Lakewood, NJ 08701. Interment will follow at the adjacent Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,
donations in Marty’s memory may be made to the Freehold chapter of Habitat for Humanity,
