Obituary of Goldie Wechsler

Goldie Wechsler, 94, of Bayville, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. She was
born in Nyack, NY, and lived in Roselle, NJ, before moving to Bayville.
Goldie graduated from Hunter College, where she met her husband, Alex. They began their life
together in the Bronx, NY, and later settled in Roselle, NJ, where they raised their three children.
A dedicated nurse, Goldie worked at Mount Sinai Hospital and later in hospitals in the Elizabeth
area before becoming a school nurse for over 25 years. After retirement, she and Alex spent
winters in Las Vegas.
Goldie was deeply proud of her Jewish identity and her Jewish community and was an active
member of various synagogues throughout her life. She was known for her expressive wit,
thoughtful ear and deep love for family and friends. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing
mahjong.
She is survived by her children Elayne Riggs (Robin) of Bronx, NY; Gene Wechsler (Bridgette)
of Northridge, CA; and Jay Wechsler (Kara Hodes-Wechsler) of Millington, NJ; and her brother
Philip Friedman of Bronx, NY. Goldie was predeceased by her beloved husband Alex, her sister
Kenie Mittleman and her parents.
