Obituary of Irma A. Katz
Irma Anna Katz (nee’ Wollman) of Monroe TWP., NJ. Age 98 passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
Irma was born on August 10, 1927, in Brooklyn and was raised there, later moving to Long Island and eventually to New Jersey to be near all of her children.
A dedicated bookkeeper who worked well into her seventies, she often joked that she had missed her true calling as a food critic—an opinion wholeheartedly shared by those who enjoyed her zest for good meals and honest reviews. She loved her regular Mah Jong games, slot machines, and scratch-off tickets. Bingo became a cherished activity we were fortunate to share with her, even in her final days. And dancing was a joy she carried throughout her life, from her teenage years through her nineties.
No matter what life brought her way, she met it with perseverance, hard work, and an unshakable spirit. Even in her nineties, she remained fiercely independent and strong-willed, never wanting to be a burden, despite the challenges of being legally blind due to macular degeneration.
She formed lifelong friendships wherever she lived or worked, and she took tremendous pride in her appearance. She was a fashionable, elegant woman who always presented herself with care.
She leaves behind her devoted children and their spouses: Nadine (Zvi) and Barry (Marilyn); her beloved grandchildren: Oren (Michelle), Robyn (Matt), Alona (Gabe), Melanie (Steven), Adam (Erica), and Julie (Dan); and she was the cherished great-grandmother of twelve.
Funeral Services will be held graveside on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Mount Golda Cemetery, Huntington Station, NY.
Shiva will be observed in both New Jersey and Long Island.
Memorial contributions in Irma’s honor may be made to The Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
