Obituary of Ira Grodberg
Baruch Dayan HaEmet – Blessed Be the True Judge
In Loving Memory of IRA Grodberg, A Son of Israel and Faithful Servant of Yeshua HaMashiach
It is with profound love and reverence that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, teacher, and friend, IRA Grodberg, who entered into the arms of Avinu Shebashamayim (Our Father in Heaven) on the 18th of August.
Ira Grodberg was born on March 4, 1946, in Asbury Park, NJ, into a Jewish family that cherished the ways of the Torah. Raised in the traditions of our people, he grew up deeply connected to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In his young adult years, Adonai revealed to him Yeshua HaMashiach as the long-awaited Messiah of Israel. This encounter transformed his life, igniting a passion to walk in the fullness of his Jewish heritage and proclaim the Good News of salvation to Jew and Gentile alike.
In 1 Chronicles 12:32, the sons of Issachar “understood the times and knew what Israel should do”. Such was the anointing that rested upon Ira's life. With wisdom and prophetic discernment, he became a watchman over the nations, a voice of encouragement, and a source of counsel for leaders and believers across the world. His ministry, steeped in prayer and the Word, bridged communities, drawing together the Jewish and Christian worlds in unity under Messiah’s banner.
Those who knew him will testify: his heart overflowed with chesed (lovingkindness) and ahavat Yeshua (love of Jesus). Whether teaching Scripture, ministering prophetically, or simply listening with compassion, Ira’s life radiated the light of the Lord. Truly, his life embodied the words of the prophet Daniel: “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3)
He is survived by his cousins, nieces and nephews, and a spiritual family spread across NJ and Israel, all of whom carry forward his mantle and mission. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, and now joins them in the presence of the King of Glory.
A service of remembrance and celebration of his life will be held on 26 of August at St. Mary's, Manahawkin, led by Pastor John Kropinack. Together, we will honor the remarkable life of a tzaddik (righteous man) who walked humbly before his God and brought blessing to all he encountered.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to Ministry Isaiah 40 to further the work of proclaiming the message of Yeshua HaMashiach to all nations.
May his memory be for a blessing—Zichrono Livracha—and may his legacy inspire us to love God, love His people, and discern the times with faithfulness and courage.
“Adonai is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Adonai is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1
