Obituary of Dr. Barbara P. Schneider
Dr. Barbara Schneider peacefully passed away on July 3, 2025, at age 70, surrounded by her children Sean and Charlotte, rejoining her beloved husband Mort.
Born in Manhattan to Eric and Gertrude Schneider, Barbara began her surgical rotation in March 1976, taking her physician's oath in 1977. A proud "dinosaur" of rigorous medical training, she endured 120+ hour weeks during residency while facing discrimination in a male-dominated field. She earned board certification in 1984 and became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1987.
Dr. Schneider was a respected board-certified general surgeon specializing in breast diseases, practicing for over 40 years and saving thousands of lives. She was known for her patient advocacy and conservative treatment approach. Barbara later became an outspoken advocate for freedom and American values through her weekly radio show "Radio Free America."
After a 3-month courtship beginning with a blind date, Barbara married Mort Schneider on June 1, 1980. They shared 42 years of marriage until his death in April 2023.
Barbara is survived by her children Sean and Charlotte and brother Peter. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother David, and husband Mort.
