I'm so sorry, the sadness I have and how hard to write this has been for me.
This is and always been my grandpa, honestly I also call him dad since he has been the only constant male role model I have had in a very long Time.
As you may or may not know my grandpa & my grandma Lorraine were together for like 50yrs. One Christmas when I was about 6yrs Old I asked Ben if I could please call him Grandpa? He had said first ask her mom & Grandma, so I did of course they Said if I wanted to, and if course if it was ok with Ben. I remember running up to him and saying ur my grandpa now he grabbed my hands so I could do flips cause I was so happy.
My grandpa has been here for me through all the good and bad. We talked about any & everything. My grandpa knows things no one would wanna talk about to a grandpa/dad. He has been there for my children making sure every Year they had new school clothes & supplies. He was always so excited by the deals we would fine. He watched me as well as them grow up becoming adults.
Grandpa always said if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have luck at all,. But always told me one day Honey ur going to be ok.
1 thing I never understood was whenever his family would call he never Said his granddaughter was there. Im unsure if he didn't want it known the bond we had or what. I always said why don't you tell them I'm ur granddaughter? If anything was to happen grandpa I don't want them to think I'm crazy, lol. He always said they won't. (So I hope you guys don't think that, lol) Moving to FL was the hardest part of My Life and I kept going back and forth on it. Cause I promised my grandma I would always look after grandpa, & I didn't wanna leave my best friend. Well Grandpa told me to go Ahead cause I needed a change from NJ. We talked all the time, e-mailed pics, talked always about food. Which we loved going out to eat, and I always loved how grandpa knew my favorites and always ordered my steak just perfect for me. I enjoyed hearing the stories of his trips he had taken, how his ex wife was doing in Arizona, the crazy stories of what his son's were or done, his cousin's how much he loved them and his friends Judy and yes that last trip y'all took. The dinner's and baseball games. My Grandpa opened My eyes to so much.
Gosh I Miss him so much, Miss calling and knowing that he always is there for me. I miss My Best friend, xoxoxo
My Grandpa passed away right before my grandma's birthday on st. Patrick's day -march 17th. Which he loved going to the diner for corn beef and we made it our thing every Year. Well I hope Grandpa &Grandma are now enjoying being together.
I'm so grateful for this man &all he has done.
Thank you for allowing me to share
