
Obituary of Maxine J. Kell
Maxine “Max, Maxie, Nana” Morowitz-Kell, 73, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on February 19, 2025, after a long battle with kidney failure due to her previous transplant difficulties.
Maxine was born on May 22, 1951, to Norman and Shirley Morowitz in the Bronx, NY. She attended Ramapo High School in Spring Valley, NY, and received her Bachelor of Science from Thomas Edison University.
She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Shirley Morowitz, and her beloved dogs, Biscuit, Nicky, and Sadie.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband Stanley Kell and was mother to her three children Stacy Thompson-Burger (her husband Michael Burger and daughter Nora Burger), her daughter Cindy Thompson and son Scott Thompson. She is survived by her younger brothers Mark Morowitz, Delray Beach, FL, and Cory Morowitz, Philadelphia, PA.
Maxine was an outgoing, determined go-getter who handled herself with grace. She had a love of baking, singing, playing the piano, coffee, and traveling. She was the previous owner of a bagel bakery in Toms River, which was her lifelong dream and followed in her father's footsteps.
She truly adored her granddaughter, Nora, her children, her husband, friends, and family.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (please arrive at 10:45) on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Freehold Hebrew Benefit Society Cemetery, address: Business Route 33 West, Freehold NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Donate Life America www.donatelife.net/donation/types, an organization in support of Maxine’s gift of a small bowel transplant that she received in May 2007.
